In a digital era where everyone wants overnight success, alt-pop rising artist MICO showcases that great music and consistency can win the race. Starting as a 16-year-old singing in Discord servers and Twitch streams, MICO (now 22) continues to connect with new listeners one-by-one, paying off in a cult fanbase of 1.6 million digitally (known as the “amicos”), generating over 100 million global streams and selling out North American and European tours – all independently without major label help.The last two years have catapulted MICO to new heights – earning a top 20 radio hit (“cut my hair”), selling out three headline tours throughout the US and Canada, and sparking viral hits that have become staples in his discography (“HOMESICK”, “TV” and “Senses”. For MICO, the Internet isn’t something to be overthought – it’s like his second home. In late 2018, a 16 year-old Miguel Veloso would sing in Discord servers and Twitch streams to connect with new listeners one-by-one. Now at 21 years old, MICO’s hard work has paid off in the form of a cult fandom and over 60 million global streams… all without the aid of a record label. For MICO, the internet isn’t something to be overthought—it’s like his second home, organically growing a following of over 750,000 dedicated “amicos” over the last 5 years. Coming off his radio hit “cut my hair” and sold-out debut show in late 2022, MICO released his much anticipated EP “the tears we fight” the following September. Followed up by a 3-track EP titled “the afterparty” in December, the sister projects were generating viral hits like “another soul” and “better”, with fans coming back for every release. In 2023, MICO sought to break the stigma surrounding online artists by embarking on two tours spanning Canada & the US. Selling out a multitude of shows across both countries, MICO continues to prove the industry wrong, forcefully becoming one of the main up-and-coming alternative pop artists to breakthrough in recent years.
