Boogie T (18+ Event)

Born and raised in Louisiana, Brock Thornton aka Boogie T, has risen from the bayou to bring the low end. Since the tender age of eight, he’s expressed his creativity through writing and playing music. Whether he’s producing dubstep, funk, blues, or anything in between, Boogie T is an entertainer at heart, weaving a variety of musical elements and instruments into his signature sound. Boogie T’s goal in the studio and behind the decks is simple: to make great music and to connect with people. Boogie T landed his first label release in 2017 on Ganja White Night’s SubCarbon Records with his debut ‘Soul’d Out EP,’ earning him a spot on the iTunes Top 10 Electronic Album charts. Since his debut release, Boogie T has delivered his funky, bass-heavy sound to top-tier labels such as Atlantic/BigBeat and Ultra Records/Sony Music. In 2018 (on 4/20, naturally) Boogie T launched his own record label, Drama Club Recordings, with a mission to deliver his own music, as well as to signtracks from some of his favorite artists in bass music. Drama Club Recordings is now home to many Boogie T releases, as well as music from both established peers and promising up-and-comers. In 2018, Boogie T took his career to new heights with the premiere of his live band, BOOGIE T.RIO, featuring hometown bandmates Andrew 'Yàno' Yanovski on the keys and Frank 'Animal Drums' Castro on drums and percussion. The positive response was immediate, leading BOOGIE T.RIO to release five EPs and perform across North America on their own headline tours in 2019 and 2023, along with appearances at Voodoo Fest, Okeechobee, and Red Rocks. Boogie T's touring history as a DJ is punctuated by a number of headline tours, most recently including his headline Outbreak Tour in 2023, a whirlwind adventure across over 25 stops sponsored by Monster Energy. This tour not only showcased Boogie T's ability to command the stage and captivate audiences throughout North America, but also reaffirmed his status as a live performance phenomenon. Beyond his own headline tours, Boogie T has become a fixture at some of the world'stop music festivals, gracing the stage at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and EDC Las Vegas. Looking ahead, Boogie T is gearing up for another DJ tour in the spring of 2024 and preparing for the highly anticipated third installment of his headline Red Rocks headline, Boogie T On The Rocks III. With a horde of unreleased music and a packed touring schedule on the horizon, it’s only a matter of time before Boogie T brings the bayou to you.

Testament

Line-up:TESTAMENT online:Chuck Billy | vocalsEric Peterson | guitarsAlex Skolnick | guitarsSteve DiGiorgio | bassGene Hoglan | drums The time has arrived for TESTAMENT to unleash new thunder to the masses and reveal their thirteenth studio album: Titans OF Creation. Just as the elements of this planet thrive within all living creatures, each musician in TESTAMENT represents a necessary component of this latest musical endeavour. Still filled with a massive and unstoppable energy since their last release, TESTAMENT has taken their style to the next level and present an album that is loyal to the roots of traditional thrash metal while still bringing alluring, brilliant, and progressive ingredients to the table. Bass is showcased, new vocals are introduced, and as expected, the guitar work of Peterson and Skolnick is greatly complex and mesmerizing. Eliran Kantor stepped up once again to create a new piece of artwork for the cover of this release. His classic, almost Renaissance style of painting melds beautifully with the ancient, psychological, and enlightened subject matter of the songs. Three monstrous titans stand in the place where the planets are formed. One pours molding liquid which the others hammer into human DNA, twisting and turning into the ring of a newborn planet. Each titan has the flame of a dying star burning in their chest; the origin of the atoms making up the bodies that are bubbling and boiling on the curves of the spiraling helix. Titans OF Creation has many moods and material contained within; all of which somehow tie into a common philosophy of creation and its necessary counterpart: destruction. “Children Of The Next Level” smashes through the gates as the opening track with a flood of sound that prepares the listener for an abundance of violent thrash. Meanwhile, the lyrics rage about the outrageous philosophies of the Heaven’s Gate cult (founded in 1974). Songs like “Dream Deceiver” carry more old school sound that will tickle the senses of any common TESTAMENT fan. The lyrics describe being trapped in a dream by an otherworldly female force who is slowly working to degrade the mind. Dreams are part of existence, but when we are asleep we are entirely vulnerable; one of the many mysteries of being human. “Someone’s haunting you and won’t leave you alone; the only time they pick at you is at night when they can control the way you sleep,” describes vocalist Chuck Billy “Night of the Witch” features frightening and captivating vocals from Eric Peterson. Carrying a vibe far more akin to Black Metal, Peterson swoops in with a power that melds perfectly with Billy’s ground shaking, guttural growls. Taking some influence from Robert Egger’s 2015 horror masterpiece “The VVitch: A New England Folktale,” the song carries with it a magical quality that directly reflects the mood of the film. At the very end of the track, a theremin howls through the air much like witches rising towards the moon; setting the final tone. “The album has a lot about it that’s fresh to the ear,” explains Peterson. Written by guitarist Alex Skolnick, “Symptoms” is filled with detailed with intricate guitar work that well represents the complicated and spellbinding journey that comes along with handling depression, mood swings, and a countless list of mental health frustrations. The lyrics in this song discuss a sad truth: that mental illness is more common than we all think, and than many of us are willing to acknowledge. On a lighter note, a vibrant track entitled “The Healers” swings back and forth between waves of death and thrash, heavy and melodic, light and dark. The words are spiritual, and extremely personal. They describe Billy’s own experience dealing with all natural medicine men; the elders of the earth, and how they managed to help him pinpoint and heal his past illness. “City Of Angels” comes bearing an entirely new sound for TESTAMENT. The creeping sludgieness and slow, stalking tempo, walk hand in hand with the almost unbelievably gruesome tale of the Nightstalker Richard Ramierz, all combining to form another stand-out track on the record. In 2020 the days of writing an album all together in one room are far gone, but to be able to take advantage of technology allows for TESTAMENT to go about a very similar writing process to what they always have. Basic songs are molded, structures are added by everyone in the group, instrumentals are highlighted, and finally the lyrics and vocals are created to finalize the sonic story. Facetime and human on human contact still remain crucial elements to TESTAMENT’s song writing process and at some point throughout, every member physically interacts and writes with one another. In between writing this album, the band toured relentlessly which allowed for less stress, more time in between, and greater inspiration for this album cycle. There was also plenty of anxiety-free and level-headed time for pre-production and the initial recording process with Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios. Andy Sneap was then able to tweak, mix, and master this album to his usual perfection. TESTAMENT’s process of creation has evolved and progressed yet they’ve remained steadfast over the course of literal decades. While always managing to present the genuine aspects of thrash metal that solidify their existence, they spread into unique horizons through developing crisp and fascinating sounds.

Jonah Kagen (18+ Event) (Moved from Shrine Social Club)

Singer and songwriter Jonah Kagen shares his new EP, ‘The Roads,’ out on Arista Records. The 6-track EP includes recent hit singles like “The Roads,” “Pollution,” “Made Up My Mind (ft. Lily Meola),” and “18,” as well as two brand new songs, “This Life Ain’t Easy” and “Save My Soul.” The EP’s title track, “The Roads,” has had recent momentum climbing at US Triple-A radio, with support across 15+ stations and counting, and received a stamp of approval from Zach Bryan.  Jonah continues to challenge the boundaries of folk, rock, and pop with his new EP. Pairing his signature acoustic-driven sound with heartfelt musings, Jonah captures the universally relatable feeling of trying to figure life out.  “‘The Roads’ is a story of decisions and consequences,” Jonah says. “Each song represents a distinct moment in my ongoing quest to ‘figure it out’ and what those moments did and continue to do to me. Each is a road that I’ve taken that has shaped and continues to shape who I am. I hope people can find a piece of themselves in these stories, and I encourage you to listen with an open heart and an open mind. I wrote these songs to land anywhere—take them as they are, or as they are to you.” Ironically, ’The Roads’ arrives as Jonah returns home from two months on the road. He started his US run in October with his first ever headline tour, which included sold-out shows in Charlotte and New York City, before joining Phillip Phillips as support on ‘The Drift Back’ tour.  Embodying contrast, Savannah GA native Jonah Kagen approaches the guitar with the instinctual know-how of a jazz virtuoso, but also pens the kinds of lyrics that turn into festival singalongs. At just 23 years old, Jonah Kagen has already cut impressive figures with over 200 million global streams and 2.6 monthly Spotify listeners. An exciting new voice bringing undeniable energy and sincerity through his multifaceted sound, Jonah Kagen is one to watch.

Rise Against

Punk rock might have been the force that brought Destroy Boys together, but it’s far from the only touchstone for their music. From their first record through the beginnings of their fourth, they have continued to write and sing about what they know. School drama and elitist cliques encountered in their teens have given way to the pain of relationships and the inherent feelings of misunderstanding and isolation that is all too common for young people navigating a hybrid of physical and digital worlds. Started in Sacramento in 2015 by Alexia Roditis and Violet Mayugba while they were still in high-school, initially the band released acoustic demos on Bandcamp. Destroy Boys first proper record, Sorry, Mom remains a classic for the band’s fans, having spawned the underground hit I Threw Glass At My Friend’s Eyes and Now I’m On Probation. The follow up record, Make Room, recorded by Martin Cooke (Death Cab for Cutie, Of Monsters and Men) was tracked in just 4 days and yielded favorites such as Crybaby and Duck Eat Duck World (later featured on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtrack. Adding drummer Narsai Malik to the fold in 2018, Destroy Boys began to tour in earnest, venturing as far as the UK, opening for numerous up-and-coming indie bands. As their own songs took off on Spotify and TikTok they signed with Los Angeles label Hopeless Records in 2020. Working with Philadelphia producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Circa Survive) their first Hopeless release was the snarling, one minute ripper, Muzzle. The eventual LP Open Mouth, Open Heart, released in late 2021 chronicled a band dealing with familiar pandemic-frustration and the rise of online gossip and bullying -  and they dealt with these head on with songs ranging from Escape to Locker Room Bully.  Despite that year-long setback, the band returned to touring in summer 2021, suffering the obligatory headache of Covid-cancelled shows, re-booking and re-reroutings.   But their fanbase, which had been locked up as the band grew sevenfold online came out in droves. Headlining for the first time brought a succession of sold out shows and the reassurance that their connection with their audience was never stronger. Rolling into 2022, the band toured the UK with Alkaline Trio and Taking Back Sunday before crisscrossing the US several times as they continued to support the LP. With lauded performances at Riot Fest, Dia De Los Deftones, and more, they have since begun work on their fourth album. Working with Carlos De La Garza (Bad Religion, Paramore, The Linda Lindas) the recordings dig further back to embrace everything from garage punk to 90’s college indie rock. 2023 holds yet bigger experiences for Destroy Boys. Following appearances at Coachella they return to the UK and Ireland for Slam Dunk Fest, several headline shows and then multiple runs in Europe, taking in notable festivals including Roskilde, SBAM! And Sziget. Along the way fans can expect new music in advance of their as yet untitled fourth record.
